Today was a first for me. I got a call from the school that Jack was at the nurse and they thought I should come. Turns out, he fell at recess and landed on a screw and it was stuck in his hand. So, by the time I got there, he was very worked up, they could not get it out and had wrapped it up ready for me to take him to the doctor.
So, we ended up at the Urgent Care. My nice Mom came and met me so I did not have to endure this all by myself. As most of you probably know, Jack is not a fan of needles, pain or blood so this was not going to be a pleasant trip. But he did great!! I am so proud of him. I know the screw really hurt, and then he had to get a big shot to numb it. He was so brave. I am telling you, it hurt me to watch it so I know it had to really hurt if it was in your hand.
The doctor was great and was very good wtih Jack. They got it out and all is well. I told Jack, it is going to be a great story now that he has survived! Here are our souvenir pics! Notice the piece of shingle attached to the screw by a big bolt. And this thing was flush against his hand--all the way in. He was very brave!!
THIS JUST IN---Jack and Scott are home and the screw measured 1 inch long! We are working on scanning xrays for you all. I am sure you are on pins and screws waiting for them.
